Cool Facts
Among many other
youth winners in 2000, in particular,
Cerresso
Fort (14 years
old), was undefeated (4/99-3/00), winning the State Silver Gloves and Regional
Silver Gloves Championships, and the State Junior Olympic and Regional
Junior Olympic Championships.
Eugenio Alvarez,
another boxer, was the youngest open boxer in the Golden Gloves Tournament,
and won the State and Upper Midwest Titles and the “Best Boxer” award in
the Region II Tournament (3/00).
One of the youth
competed in several bouts against Team Ireland
and the "Irish Invasion". He won! (3/00)
We also had a special
treat for the youth in March 2000. We attended a Don King Production World
Championship Fight Card and watched our own local champion boxer "Steel
Will" Grigsby win the main event!
